INDIAN FOOTBALL (EPISODE-09) !!!

 Indian Football

Episode: 09

Location: Pattaya Beach, at the outskirts of Bangkok City

Gurdeep Singh Saini:- Wow! What a lovely sea beach. So clean and calm! Thanks to our coach for bringing us here.

Sangram Mukherjee:- After landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport of Bangkok, I realized that Bangkok is a very busy city. Even the sky trains of Bangkok are too modernized to speed up the life of daily office goers in Bangkok.

Tomba Llong:- My girlfriend, Fulki was somewhat amazed after entering inside the Grand Sukhumvit Hotel at Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.

Debraj Venkateshan:- Look at my wife there. Ha ha ha...she is enjoying the beach waters.

Rajanikanth Modi (while standing alone with a football and a whistle on the Pattaya beach):- Hey! You all come here. There is no point in wasting time by watching your respective wife or girlfriend. Let them enjoy the sea waters in the Pattaya beach. Come here! We will enjoy the sands of Pattaya beach by playing beach football on it.

Sunil Chetri:- Whosoever makes a rough tackle is out straightaway from the beach football. Practice short and accurate passes on the sands. It will help us against Argentina. Based on your performances on this practice session, we will make the final squad for tomorrow’s match against Argentina.

Location: Conference Room of Sukhumvit Grand Hotel, Sukhumvit area of Bangkok

Rajanikanth Modi:- It is 10 AM now. Where is our captain, Jayanta?

Jayanta Dasgupta (while entering the conference room):- Here I am, Sir!

Rajanikanth Modi:- All the team members came here around 30 minutes earlier and look at the Captain of our football team. You are late. I don’t blame you. Actually, your wife is the cause for that.

Everyone in the Conference Room (laughed heartily):- Ha ha ha.

Rajanikanth Modi:- Ok! Jokes apart! Our team bus will start at 11.30 AM sharp to head towards Rayong to reach the King Naresuan Stadium. Instant Doping Tests will be conducted at the King Naresuan Stadium only.  Match will start at 2.30 PM. Sunil, please declare the main squad for today’s match.

*****************************************************

Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Hello everybody! I am Alexander Adams and with me, Winston Williams in the commentary box. Fantastic atmosphere here at the King Naresuan Football Stadium of Rayong, which is a part of Greater Bangkok City. It is Argentina Vs India, the 1st Semi Final match of FIFA World Cup of 2034 on this very date of 18th July 2034, Tuesday.

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Goal! Whoa! Milito of Argentina scored a sensational goal by taking a long swinging shot to give 1-0 lead to Argentina within 3 minutes of the game. Sangram Mukherjee couldn’t even get the time to react to such a high speed swinging shot from Milito.

**********************************************
Rajanikanth Modi: - I told our boys not to concede a goal in the initial phases of the game. But, look at our idiot defenders.

Sunil Chetri:- Sir! That shot from Milito was too good. The match is not over yet. 5 minutes more to go to end the 1st Half. Our boys have to play good football in the 2nd half.

*********************************************
Jayanta Dasgupta:- No! No! Boss! You are just sprinting alone through their penalty box. We are here to support you. Please give the passes to us. That was a nice move. You spoiled by taking a long shot by yourself. You are just wasting our opportunities.

Sunil Roy:- Sorry! Sorry! Actually! I thought that I could also score a goal by that long shot. But, the ball went above the goal post. Sorry! Again!

Jayanta Dasgupta:- Time will not listen to your excuses. See! The referee has blown the whistle to put an end of the 1st Half.

********************************************
Rajanikanth Modi:- What is wrong with you guys? You guys are playing in such a fashion as if you have forgotten all the basics of football. Or is it that the complacency factor is creeping in your minds. Chalo bhai! Semi Final tak toh pouch gaye hain, bahut kuch achieve kar liya.

Jayanta Dasgupta:- Sir! We are trying hard to get an equalizer goal, but, the Argentine strikers are attacking us too frequently.

Rajanikanth Modi:- Trying hard is just a sophisticated excuse. Rather you try less but at the end of the day, achieve the goal or target by some smart strategies. Ultimately, the end result counts. No one will remember whether you tried hard or not. Everyone will cherish that good result only.

Ranjit Singh Rathore:- Sir! I have a plan. To frustrate the Argentine strikers, we must create a zone of offside trap in and around our penalty box.

Rajanikanth Modi:- That’s a gambling again. In the 4th Quarter Final match between Spain and Brazil, the Spaniard defenders applied the same strategy, but, in the 73rd minute of the match, Brazil managed to score a goal where one of its strikers totally got the space to score the goal from onside position. Anyway, we have the footage of the match. Just have a glimpse of it.

Sunil Chetri:- Look at the video footage. All the four Spanish defenders know the timings about when to move forward to create the offside trap. Apply it in this match, but, be alert also.

***********************************************
Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Rajdeep Samanta passed the ball to Babu Menon. Babu Menon failed to move forward with the ball. Del Potro is sprinting in and gave the side pass to Pasarella. Pasarella chipped the ball towards Nalbandian. But, alas, it’s an offside again. For 13 times in this match, Argentine strikers have fallen in the offside trap. 79 minutes of the match is over. Still, Argentina is leading by 1-0.

**********************************************
Zinedine Zidane:- Argentina team is playing well today.

Lionel Messi:- Yeah! Only some more minutes. Then, Argentina team will be in the final.

Zinedine Zidane:- This is the game of football. The match is not over till the last second of the match. Anyway, Argentina team deserves to reach the final.

**********************************************

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Only 4 minutes left in the match. Indian footballers are now playing possession football. Giving short passes to each other in a zig-zag fashion! Tomba passes the ball to Sunil.  Sunil got tackled by Cavenaghi. The Spanish referee, Gary Gomez showed a yellow card to Cavenaghi. Dilip Majumder took the free kick. Oh! Timely response from Stefano, the Argentine goalkeeper to save a sure shot goal.

Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Yeah! The ball was moving in. Indian team got their 3rd corner kick in this match. In the meantime, Iftikhar Hussain is replaced by Arjun Thapa. Indian coach is trying to increase the attack on Argentina team. Gurdeep Singh Saini took the corner kick. Stefano punched the ball in the air, but, it is still not out of danger. Dilip Majumder headed the ball towards Chiranjit Malakar. Oberto made the sliding tackle, but it went in vain. The Linesman has confirmed 2 minutes of stoppage time. Chiranjit Malakar back passed the ball to Arjun Thapa. Arjun Thapa took the shot.

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Oh! The ball touched at the hand of Ginobili. Indian footballers are demanding for a penalty, but, Gary Gomez told them to continue the game. Only 58 seconds left in the match. Stefano cleared the ball but Ranjit Singh Rathore received the ball and sprinting in. One down, two down! Great sprinting by the Indian defender! Nalbandian tackled Ranjit Singh Rathore from behind. Penalty! Yes! Only 22 seconds left in the match and India got a penalty kick. Nalbandian is lucky to see a Yellow Card instead of a Red Card. Sunil Roy is going to take the penalty kick. Stefano is ready. Look at the Indian supporters in the stadium. Sunil Roy takes the shot. Ooh! Almost Stefano got it, but, he missed the ball by a whisker.

Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- The match is still alive with that equalizer. The score is 1-1. The referee blew the whistle. We are heading for the Extra Time.

****************************************************

Rajanikanth Modi:- I am not at all satisfied with our two strikers, Jayanta Dasgupta and Dilip Majumder. Replace them with Suresh Murmu and Harilal Tamang.

Sunil Chetri:- Ok! But, our boys will play in which formation now?

Rajanikanth Modi:- 3-2-2-3. Sangram, you are in charge of captaincy now. Your boys must attack like the shoal of big fishes swimming together to hunt the small fishes. The attack formation will look like the ‘5’ in any dice. The central midfielder, Tomba Llong has to act like a game maker.

Sangram Mukherjee:- Done! Sir!

***************************************************
Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- The 1st Half of the Extra Time is over. Still, the score is 1-1.  Both the teams attacked well, but, the goalkeepers of both the teams did their professional job very well to maintain the match score at 1-1 till now.

**************************************************
Lionel Messi:- India is too lucky to come back into this match.

Zinedine Zidane:- This Indian football team is not a weak team. Argentina team underestimated this Indian team to a certain extent. Perhaps, this Indian football team is becoming the real life example of the fact that the game of football is improving in the Third World Countries or Developing Nations of the World.

*************************************************
Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Harilal Tamang made a shot but Stefano was well alert about that. Only 1 minute left in the 2nd Half of Extra Time. The score remains 1-1.

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Yeah! The referee blew the whistle. Which team will qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2034 after the penalty shootout?

************************************************
Rajanikanth Modi:- My orders are final. These 5 players will take the penalty shots in serial order. Arjun Thapa, Sunil Roy, Rajdeep Samanta, Tomba Llong and Suresh Murmu.

Sangram Mukherjee:- Ok! Sir!

************************************************
Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Arjun Thapa is going to take the shot. Oh! No! Argentine goalkeeper, Stefano saved the goal by diving at his left direction. The score is 0-0. Advantage to Argentina! Milito is going to take the 1st shot for Argentina. Goal! Again a powerful shot by Milito stunned Sangram Mukherjee. Argentina leading by 1-0 in the penalty shootout after 1 shot each by both teams.

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Sunil Roy succeeded in scoring the goal. The score is 1-1. Vilas is taking the shot. Goal! The score is Argentina - 2 and India -1. Rajdeep Samanta is taking the shot. Nice angling shot. It is almost impossible to save such shots in any penalty shootout. The score is 2-2.  Del Potro is going to take the shot. Oh! Sangram fights back. Lovely save by diving at his right direction. The match is still not over yet. The thrilling game of football continues. The score is 2-2 in the penalty shootout after 3 shots each by both teams.

Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Tomba Llong is looking slightly nervous. Tomba took the shot. Oh! Stefano saved the speedy shot. Maybe, Stefano predicted Tomba’s mindset much earlier. The score remains 2-2. Again, it is an advantage to Argentina. Oberto is going to take the shot. Oh! Dear! Why you have not practiced taking the penalty shots in your practice sessions? Oberto kicked the ball hard, but, it missed the target completely and went out after kissing the upper bar of the goal post. 2-2 is the score. One shot left for each team. If no result, then we will go for sudden death.

Winston Williams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- The King Naresuan Football Stadium is silent as of now as the thrilling match is about to reach at its thrilling climax. Suresh Murmu is praying to God before taking the shot. Can he deliver? Suresh Murmu took the shot. Oh! Yeah! Stefano is completely beaten. Suresh Murmu shouted after scoring the goal. Maybe, he was feeling too tensed before taking the shot. India is leading now with the score 3-2. Now, the pressure is back on Argentina. Pasarella is also feeling the tension and is about to take the shot. Pasarella takes the shot. The ball hit the left finger of Sangram and then went up to hit the inner portion of the upper bar of the post but the ball bounced outside the line of the goal. Is it a goal or not? Both the teams are demanding 2nd Referee decision. Gary Gomez signalled for the 2nd Referee decision.

Alexander Adams (Commentator of FIFA World Cup):- Let us see the replay. I think that India is through to the final. Yes, it is indeed! As per Goal Line Technology of FIFA, it is not a goal. So, India wins again Argentina in the penalty shootout by 3-2. Look at the Indian spectators in the stadium. Even the people of Thailand are dancing with joy. After all, an Asian team has reached the final of FIFA World Cup 2034. Rajanikanth Modi is laughing heartily now after tasting another success through his diligent and dedicated boys. Both of us are signing off for today. Bye.

**************************************************
Arindam:- Hello! Hello! Oh! It’s a tower problem. Can’t hear properly!

Mrs. Nandini Nandi:- E-mail me the article that you have written on the India Vs Argentina match. I have to go through your article and then edit it to make it a final article to be printed on tomorrow’s daily newspaper.

Arindam:- Ok! Ok! Actually, I have e-mailed the soft copy of my article in ‘.xmlx’ format of Sun JAVA XMLX Word Version 2034. But, the mailbox of our organization bounced twice. Where is my fault, you tell me?

Mrs. Nandini Nandi:- Ok! I am telling the IT Department to free some storage space of our e-mail id. Once I give you the miss call, just send the e-mail again. By the way, I spotted you with a girl at King Naresuan Football Stadium while watching the live coverage of India Vs Argentina match. Who is she?

Arindam:- Oh! Why those cameramen sometimes capture the videos of spectators in a football stadium? She is Jasmine Young. She was in that women’s football team of South Korea which won Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics of 2028 in New Delhi. Now, she is working as a Sports Journalist of Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) TV Channel. She is too simple and sweet. Both of us got introduced to each other at the spa of Paradee Hotel in Rayong of Greater Bangkok City. She is just a good friend of mine, you see.

Mrs. Nandini Nandi:- Yeah! Yeah! All your wild romance and exotic desires always remain wrapped up under the ordinary packaging materials of friendship only.

Arindam:- Your hi-fi statements are going above my head now. India has won the Semi Final match. Right now, I have come to Koh Munnork Island to have some party with some of my new friends to celebrate the victory of Indian football team. Talk to you later. Bye!

*******************************************************
Rajanikanth Modi:- Enough of parties! Time to focus on the mission again! We have to win one more battle to complete our mission. Today, we will go to Chatuchak Market area to do some shopping. We will have our lunch in the Eat Streets of Chatuchak Market area. Then in the night, we will have a fantastic dinner at Whale’s Belly Restaurant of Sukhumvit area of Greater Bangkok. Tomorrow morning, i.e. on 20th July 2034, we will take the flight of Thai Airlines from Suvarnabhumi International Airport of Bangkok to Changi International Airport of Singapore.
